Some hints on how to think outside the search box
SearchEngine Watch, one of the various resources I use to keep up in my line of work, recently featured an article on "Thinking Outside the Search Box" with good ideas on how to do searching outside the usual use of a search engine. The author uses a search she did for a client to illustrate the process, and she does so step by step. She integrates tools like Technorati, a fee based database, and Wikipedia. I found it fascinating as it looked like putting together a puzzle, but it was her thinking process as she did it that I found most interesting. This is definitely worth reading. I think people can learn a trick or two. I know I did.
